Unlucky Norway

Although I’m not a huge football fan at all, I took an interest in last weekend’s football match seeing as quite a few of my friends are avid England supporters and I take infinite enjoyment in their disappointment (I’m obliged to dismiss all England successes in Football/ Rugby being a Welsh Rugby Fan, born and bred)  and especially as their rivals were Norway, a relatively undeveloped footballing nation as far as I know but more importantly our host country for the 5 weeks this summer. Unfortunately Norway lost 0 – 1 but that wasn’t the end of Norway’s disappointment for the weekend.

MUCH more importantly Saturday night saw the meeting of European countries (and other slightly more undefined nations: Azerbaijan – case and point) in the cultural and musical event of the year. Now I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan of Eurovision, but this year I was in the perfect mindset for some Euro pop / trash and was not disappointed. Read more »

My Arms!

So we’re all supposed to be training for Norway but I’m sure a lot of people are like me and never do as much as I plan to do. I think the problem is that it can be quite boring, after 5 miles on the same country lane you get pretty fed up with hedges and dead badgers! Anyway so last night I decided to go rock climbing to do something a bit difference and brush up on my rope skills for roping up in July! (EXCITED) So the first few climbs go really well and I start to feel like a bit of a ninja jumping up to get holds ect. So naturally I went to try the crazy overhanging climb called “the cave”- for obvious reasons. Lets just say, well, I was a bit rubbish got about 3m off the ground before giving in. So if at first you don’t succeed try again, and again and again. It was impossible. So now my arms are killing, it feels like my muscles are too short for my bones, just typing this is a bit of a strain to be honest.  Maybe next time stick to the easy stuff, at least that way I’ll be a little less broken the next morning Picture of the climbing wall, “the cave” is on the other side.

Moving on this is my first post so I think it would only be right to introduce myself. Basically my name is Calum and I live in High Wycombe. Lets be honest  I think most people are here to hear about Norway so moving on here is a picture of me breaking in my Scarpa Mantas a few months ago.

Day 2

Hello again! Day two of the blog’s existence and I still haven’t been able to change the header picture to a more appropriately snow-covered one! However, there should be by tonight invitations to the other members in the group, and thus you don’t have to listen to just me ramble on! I am slowly making it a more accessible blog in general too, however I am learning, thus Read more »
