Apologies for the typography of my last post; looks like something from a Biff and Chip book!

PhysicalStrength -VS- MentalStrength
Earlier this month I -along with nearly 3,000 others- took part in the annual Ten Tors challenge. The event is organised by the army, and takes place on Dartmoor. The event gave me an opportunity to test my physical endurance to the limit, as well as allowing me to test drive some of the kit I had purchased for Norway. The physical element of this challenge -as well as the challenges we will be facing together in Norway this summer- is unmissable; you clearly have to have a degree of fitness to be successful. However what Ten Tors made clear to me, is that the mental part of the challenge is just as important, I’d almost go as far to say more important. During the event we saw individuals, as well as whole teams who had crumbled- not necessarily because they were physically weak, but because they were mentally drained. A large part of mental strength comes from team moral, having a strong team surrounding you makes a massive difference. This makes me confident that whatever Norway has to throw at us over the course of our stay, Noklan will be capable of overcoming these challenges. My team were very successful over the weekend, finishing 8th out of over 600 teams and I put this largely down to our team spirit and cooperation!
