Decisions, decisions…

Ok I admit it, im a self-confessed kit geek, I love just pouring over all the reviews and specifications I can get my hands on, and so far this has meant I have been thrilled with the quality of the numerous items arriving in the post every week-. But I have reached a stalemate with a couple of items of kit…Mitts V Gloves?

Fortunately I already own a pair of good mitts and gloves, but this leaves me in the position of having to decide which to take, or take both? Mittens naturally reducing dexterity but on the other hand are warmer, or do I take the colder gloves, for added dexterity and combine them with a liner glove, thus eating into my budget.

Closed cell V closed cell- (don’t worry I will explain!)

At the moment I have 3 or 4 army style foam mats, and whilst being very warm, they are also fairly heavy. Looking around on the internet reveals that thermarest sell some good-looking lightweight mats for about £30 meanwhile multimat seem to sell some even cheaper with the lowest being just £8, but im dubious as to the longevity of an el cheapo mat, all for the sake of a couple 100 grams.

I’d love to hear any thoughts or just general advice on kit for going to the warmer bit of the arctic, Norway.

Calum

P.S. Some time in the future we will be changing the appearance of this page, so watch this space!
